WHO IS A RED RIDER?

Red Riders are ANY participant in the Tour de Cure who is living with diabetes, type 1 or type 2. Red Riders can be a rider, runner, or walker. If you have diabetes – YOU ARE A RED RIDER!

To become a Red Rider, all you have to do is check the box that states you have diabetes on the regular registration form. Please note that you can be on a Red Rider and still be on a team.

THE GOAL

The purpose of the Red Riders is to support everyone who lives with diabetes and showcase the courage it takes to live every day with this difficult condition. With hundreds of participants who may share a similar story, and hundreds more to support you, being a Red Rider can help with your first step or your millionth, in your fight to live a healthier life!

In return for becoming a Red Rider, we will give you the VIP treatment at the event and you will receive inclusion in special fundraising contests to win cool prizes including our grand prize – a brand-new red Schwinn road bike!

This year, and from here on out, we want to encourage people with diabetes to be visible and proud. The Tour itself is the affirmation of your courage and perseverance.

THE GEAR

We want our Red Riders to be readily visible to all other participants and to each other. Each member with diabetes will receive a Red Rider jersey at no cost to them. Receive your gear once you register and turn in the $150 minimum for the 2009 Tour de Cure.

Red Riders are why we ride, run, walk!
